Director of Communications Altun said, “We pray that there is no further loss of lives in Turkey or Greece and we send our best wishes to all those affected on both sides of the earthquake” regarding the earthquake in the Aegean Sea.
In a thread shared on his Twitter account Director of Communications Altun stated that they were deeply saddened by the news of today’s earthquake in the Aegean Sea that affected İzmir and some Greek islands as well.
Noting that the Turkish government had mobilized to assess the situation and implement rescue and recovery operations, Altun stated the following:
“We send our condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their lives. We are working hard to provide help to everyone affected by this natural disaster. Our President has given orders for all relevant government agencies to contribute to rescue efforts.
We pray that there is no further loss of lives in Turkey or Greece and we send our best wishes to all those affected on both sides of the earthquake. This tragedy reminds us once again how close we are despite our differences over policy. We’re ready to help if Greece needs it.”
