Director of Communications Altun: "We call on the international community to spare no effort to push for diplomatic solutions to common problems."
Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun made evaluations on his social media account regarding the signature of the "Initiative on the Safe Transportation of Grain and Foodstuffs from Ukrainian Ports Document" between Türkiye, Russia, Ukraine and the United Nations (UN) for the export of Ukrainian grain over the Black Sea under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Stating that Türkiye, under President Erdoğan’s leadership, showed once again the importance of persistent diplomacy in confronting challenges facing the international community, Director of Communications Altun pointed out that the deal signed today would ease the global food crisis by allowing much-needed grain exports.
"As President Erdoğan indicated, this agreement will prevent famine and save lives around the world," said Director of Communications Altun, noting that they worked closely with Ukrainian and Russian sides as well as the UN to broker this deal, which showed their commitment to address global challenges through diplomacy.
Director of Communications Altun stated, "Türkiye has long been a major actor in the international arena thanks to President Erdoğan’s leadership. We continue to work hard to solve the current regional and global crises such as food security, migration, energy shortages, and regional conflicts among others."
Noting that Türkiye has been pushing for diplomatic breakthroughs since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, Director of Communications Altun continued:
"We were able to bring the two sides together for talks for ceasefires in the past. We are happy to see today’s great progress on the grain exports issue. As our world goes through tumultuous times, we need strong leadership and determination to find solutions as regularly displayed by President Erdoğan. We call on the international community to spare no effort to push for diplomatic solutions to common problems."
Underlining that Türkiye shines as a beacon of peace and stability in an unstable region rife with conflicts and crises, Director of Communications Altun noted:
"Regardless of the magnitude of the challenges we face, our belief in engagement, dialogue, and diplomacy has never been stronger. As Türkiye, we will never shy away from engagement with relevant actors if it will serve the cause of stability and peace.
Today’s agreement showed that the international community can work with us to address numerous monumental challenges facing humanity. As the world emerges out of a pandemic and our region is troubled by multiple conflicts, it is critically important for world leaders to step up. The courageous leadership exhibited by President Erdoğan must be replicated elsewhere if we want a brighter future."
