Director of Communications Altun calls on Israel to take strong measures to protect journalists

Presidency's Director of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, in a post on his social media account, called on Israeli authorities to stop ignoring the civilian toll and take strong measures to protect news professionals.

Director of Communications Altun stated in his post that 24 journalists have lost their lives and many journalists have been injured since the start of the war in Gaza.

Condemning the targeting and indiscriminate killing of journalists, as well as other civilians in the conflict zone, Director of Communications Altun pointed out that reporters are simply doing their job to deliver the news from the ground.

Noting that any violence against journalists is unacceptable, Director of Communications Altun said:

"They are our only real connection to the horrible reality of war. We call on Israeli authorities to stop ignoring the civilian toll and take strong measures to protect news professionals. The nationalities and ethnic backgrounds of civilians should not matter, and all warring parties have a duty to protect them. Those who are willing to let out only a version of the truth from the ground are making reporters’ lives as difficult as possible.  We want to remind everyone that they are trying to do their job and that should not cost their lives. I give my condolences to the families and loved ones of news professionals who have lost their lives in this horrible conflict. We can bring about peace only through the exposition of facts and acknowledgement of realities on the ground."
