Presidency’s Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun said, “122 of the 129 fires in 35 provinces have been contained.”
In a post on his social media account, Director of Communications Altun stated that the fight against the forest fires that affected Türkiye has continued by mobilising all the means of the state.
Stating “122 of the 129 fires in 35 provinces have been contained,” Altun also noted:
"Every well-intentioned assistance and contribution is necessary for our national unity. However, as of this evening, the so-called aid campaign organised abroad and from a single centre, was initiated with ideological motivations, with the aim of portraying our state as helpless and weakening our state-nation unity. Our country, Türkiye is strong. Our state is tall in the saddle. As our President said, we will compensate for all of our losses, except for the lives we have lost, and we will put out this fire that is consuming us. The majority of the information currently circulated on social media platforms, instant messaging groups, and forums is fake news. Let us not fall into the trap of those who promote such lies, even in the event of a natural disaster today. Please rely on the statements of the official authorities."
