Director of Communication Altun: “The Century of Türkiye vision has reached the space”

The Presidency's Director of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, stated on social media that Alper Gezeravcı, Türkiye's first space traveller and astronaut, will be embarking on a 14-day mission on the International Space Station to conduct various scientific missions.

In his post, Altun stated that the vision of the Century of Türkiye vision has reached the space.

Reminding that Türkiye's National Space Programme was announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in 2021 and that efforts had already commenced to send a citizen into space as part of this initiative, Altun said:

"As a result of the evaluations, Alper Gezeravcı became the first Turkish space traveller. Gezeravcı is set to embark on his space journey tonight. Gezeravcı is scheduled to spend 14 days on the International Space Station, carrying out a variety of scientific missions. A total of thirteen experiments will be conducted in space, covering a wide range of topics such as cancer, immune cells, algae, and propolis. These studies aim to contribute valuable insights to the existing literature."
