As part of the official visit of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Iraq, during the signing ceremony held in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani of Iraq, Presidency's Head of Communications Prof Fahrettin Altun and Head of Executive Body of Communications and Media Commission of the Republic of Iraq Dr Ali Hussein Abdul Qader Al-Moayad signed a memorandum of understanding that will increase cooperation between the two countries in the fields of "media and communications."
The "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Media and Communications" signed between the Presidency's Directorate of Communications and the Communications and Media Commission of the Republic of Iraq aims to further strengthen friendly relations between the two countries and increase close cooperation in the fields of media and communications. Accordingly, the two countries will work to strengthen, encourage, and develop cooperation in the fields of media, communications, and publishing based on reciprocity and mutual benefit, subject to the provisions of the memorandum of understanding as well as the laws, rules, regulations, and national policies in effect in their respective countries.
According to the memorandum of understanding signed in Baghdad, cooperation in the fields of "communications," "public diplomacy," and "media and radio" will be encouraged and expanded.
The memorandum will facilitate the exchange of information and expertise in the fields of media and communications between the two countries, the sharing of best practices and experiences, and cooperation on projects and initiatives that are of mutual interest and benefit. Additionally, meetings, seminars, workshops, training programmes and conferences will be organised, and exchange visits between officials and experts in the fields of media, communications and radio will take place.
The Memorandum of Understanding will remain in effect for one year.
