President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called the National Football Team to congratulate them on their 1-0 away victory over Croatia in the sixth match of Group D of the UEFA 2024 European Championship (EURO 2024) Qualifiers.
The locker room of the national team was filled with jubilation after yesterday's match in Osijek, Croatia. Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak arranged a phone call between the national team and President Erdoğan.
While speaking with team captain Hakan Çalhanoğlu on the phone, President Erdoğan congratulated the entire team and stated, "Even though it was hard, it was a good result. We are now in the lead. "Inshallah, if we beat Latvia this week in Konya, we will be on the safe side."
After Hakan Çalhanoğlu, President Erdoğan spoke with coach Vincenzo Montella and congratulated the Italian coach.
Montella also stated, "It is a great honour for me to represent Türkiye in football." We are all very happy and proud of this victory."
