With the decision signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and published in the Official Gazette on April 19, 2019, an amendment was made in the Presidential Decree Law No. 14 concerning the establishment of Presidency’s Directorate of Communications.
With this amendment, a clause “to determine the institutional communication standards to be applied by public institutions and organizations” was added to the article regulating the duties of Presidency’s Directorate of Communications.
Audit authority on AA's management
In addition, while Presidency’s Directorate of Communications has the authority to make a maximum five-year contract with the Anadolu Agency in order not to exceed the appropriation for the Anadolu Agency allocated from the budget of Presidency’s Directorate of Communications every year, this Directorate will also have the audit authority over the Anadolu Agency's operating, budget, organization and human resource management. The procedures and principles regarding this audit will be determined by Presidency’s Directorate of Communications. In the contract to be made, the assignment methods of the Anadolu Agency executives will also be defined.
