Addressing the 16th BRICS Summit, President Erdoğan said: “We believe that BRICS makes unique contributions to the construction of a fairer global order by serving the enhancement of global trade, economic growth and sustainable development goals.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the 16th BRICS Summit in Tatarstan’s capital Kazan.
Delivering a speech at the Summit, President Erdoğan voiced his pleasure over participating in the Summit, and thanked President Vladimir Putin of Russia for his invitation and hospitality.
“I thank all our friends, who conveyed their condolences for the treacherous terrorist act conducted in Ankara yesterday, for the solidarity they have displayed,” President Erdoğan stated, and noted: “This despicable attack has further consolidated Türkiye’s determination to eliminate terror.”
“WE ARE DETERMINED TO ENHANCE OUR DIALOGUE WITH BRICS”
Drawing attention to this year’s summit’s theme, Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security, President Erdoğan said: “The post-Second World War political and financial mechanisms fall short of the expectations under today’s conditions, whereby socioeconomic fragilities increase and balances of power change. In such an environment, we act with the principle of, ‘a fairer world is possible’. We attach importance to coming together with our friends on multilateral platforms and finding resolutions to common problems that concern all of us with collective wisdom. We believe that BRICS makes unique contributions to the construction of a fairer global order by serving the enhancement of global trade, economic growth and sustainable development goals.”
Underscoring that Türkiye is the founding member of many international organizations, such as the Council of Europe and the Organization of Turkic States, and of such regional organizations as the Developing Eight (D-8) Organization for Economic Cooperation and the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), President Erdoğan added: “We are also active members of G20 and MIKTA. Our cooperation mechanisms with Latin America and the Association of Caribbean States as well as our partnerships with the African Union and ASEAN further improve each passing day. We are determined to enhance our dialogue with the BRICS family, too, with which we have developed close relations on the basis of mutual respect and win-win approach.”
“ISRAEL’S AGGRESSIVE ATTITUDE HAS ALREADY CROSSED ANY KIND OF BOUNDARY”
Pointing out that a global fair order and development is possible only through the establishment of peace and security beyond borders, President Erdoğan continued as follows: “Neither justice nor peace or development can be discussed unless the bloodshed in the Middle East is stopped. The aggressive attitude Israel has been maintaining at the cost of dragging the entire region into the fire has already crossed any kind of boundary, law and conscience in particular. The Palestinian people is suffering a genocide in Gaza. Israel has furthered its oppression by attacking Lebanon as well. Ignoring this humanitarian tragedy taking place in the 21st century cannot relieve anyone of responsibility. The establishment of an independent, sovereign and geographically integrated Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East a-Quds as its capital, is a must for lasting and fair peace in the region. On this occasion, I call on the countries that have yet to recognize Palestine to take a step to that end. Continuing to provide it with unconditional weapon and ammunition support makes Israel become more reckless in its attacks. We have launched an initiative aimed at stopping arm sales to Israel within the UN. I trust you, my valuable friends, to support our initiative. Let us join forces and put an immediate stop to the massacres and tears in our region.”
