Regarding Antifa, which the US President Donald Trump stated that he planned to recognize as a ‘terrorist organization’ after the protests that started with the death of a black American George Floyd, Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun said: “We saw the true face of Antifa, which carries out violent attacks around the world in cooperation with terrorist groups, in Syria.”
On his Twitter account, Altun shared a video noting that Antifa was ‘involved in violent protests across the US’.
In his post, Altun said: “We saw the true face of Antifa, which carries out violent attacks around the world in cooperation with terrorist groups, in Syria.”
In the video, the relationship between ‘Antifa and PKK/YPG’ was highlighted.
The video, which mentioned that Antifa caused chaos in order to take advantage of peaceful demonstrations, pointed out that Ankara was deeply concerned over this 'radical left' and 'anarchist' organization's destructive activities’ in the US, a NATO ally, and ‘its connection with the terrorist organizations which threaten Turkey’s national security’.
The video emphasized that Antifa shared the same ideology with the PKK, and that the PKK's Syria branch YPG trained a large number of Antifa members.
