Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun stated in a thread on his Twitter account that they were in receipt of some great news a few days into the holy month of Ramadan. He indicated that Turkey saw the lowest number of new infections in the last 20 days and was witnessing a plateauing and downward trajectory of the curve.
Noting that Ramadan had already started blessing them, Altun said Turkey continued to help countries by delivering critical medical supplies, and that just as they had brought back home their citizens from many countries, they had left behind supplies as much as they could.
Stressing that Turkey cared not only about its own citizens but all those affected around the world, Altun noted the following:
"We have been able to bring back around 25,000 of our Turkish citizens who wanted to be in their homeland during Ramadan. Their trust in our healthcare system is a point of pride for us. Our President Erdogan has pushed for continuous investments in our healthcare for years. Under the direction of our President Erdogan, we will never abandon any of our citizens anywhere around the world. The latest example of this was the case of Mr. Gulusken. We were able to bring him back in an ambulatory jet upon his daughter’s appeal on social media. Turkey’s response to the coronavirus crisis has simply been exemplary. Why? Our President has directed our government that we would act in the most humanitarian way possible regardless of the costs. Our citizens and those in need around the world can count on Turkey.”
