Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun said, "Thanks to Turkey’s support for the legitimate government of Libya, the destabilizing and illegitimate Haftar forces are losing ground in Libya. All those powers supporting Haftar must rethink their position and invest in the legitimate government for peace and stability."
Sharing a thread on his Twitter account, Altun noted that, as President Erdoğan expressed, Turkey would not tolerate terrorists who were trying to take advantage of the coronavirus situation in northern Syria and northern Iraq.
"We have already shown our determination not to allow another humanitarian crisis in Idlib", Altun noted, and expressed the following:
"Turkey’s commitment to keeping stability and peace in the region has been clear. We’ve committed significant military, economic, and humanitarian resources to realize this end. Any terrorists who think they can derail our efforts are gravely mistaken."
Altun emphasized that all parties to the agreements in Syria must ensure that Idlib remained clear of terrorists and regime attacks, and said, “Our government under our President’s leadership is ready to enforce the terms of our agreement if others fail to do their part.”
"Thanks to Turkey’s support"
Altun also commented on the issue of Libya and said, “Thanks to Turkey’s support for the legitimate government of Libya, the destabilizing and illegitimate Haftar forces are losing ground in Libya.”
Fahrettin Altun underlined that all those powers supporting Haftar must rethink their position and invest in the legitimate government for peace and stability, and continued his remarks as follows:
"Turkey under President Erdoğan’s leadership will continue to honor its word and commitments despite the destabilizing forces in our region. We are a capable country that can pursue terrorists in Syria and Iraq while supporting our brothers and sisters in Libya simultaneously.”
