In a thread on his Twitter account, Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun said that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was coordinating and leading the fight against the coronavirus.
Stating that President Erdoğan conducted teleconferences with cabinet members and other relevant agencies to receive updates and give related orders, Altun said, “President Erdoğan is constantly monitoring the situation. We have received reports of 7 unfortunate losses of life due to the coronavirus. We’re ramping up our testing and 343 new cases have been identified in the last 24 hours.”
Underlining that they have been pursuing strict measures as testing, quarantines, experimental drugs, social distancing, etc., Altun made the following remarks:
“President Erdoğan is conducting meetings with world leaders to come up with diplomatic initiatives to create common responses to this global threat. We have a lot to learn from each other and common measures implemented seriously can help mitigate the spread of the virus. In this historic and unprecedented struggle against the coronavirus, our government has been taking this threat very seriously and implementing strict health precautions while ensuring the stability of our economy. We are deeply appreciative of our medical personnel who have selflessly put their own health and lives in danger to take care of our patients. We also thank our security forces for protecting our people and the media for raising awareness. Their sacrifices will never be forgotten!”
