Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun congratulated women on March 8, International Women’s Day, “wishing for a future in which women’s freedom, public visibility as well as their contribution to production will be enhanced in all fields.”
Sharing a post on his Twitter account on the occasion of “March 8, International Women’s Day”, Altun noted the following:
"I congratulate all women on March 8, International Women's Day, wishing for a future in which all forms of violence, exploitation, harassment, assault, and abuse against women will end, and women's freedom, public visibility as well as their contribution to production will be enhanced in all fields."
Successful Turkish women tell about themselves
In another post, Fahrettin Altun said, "To celebrate the extraordinary contributions of women in business, education, and other areas, the Directorate of Communications wanted to bring you the stories of Turkish women. On this International Women’s Day, we recommit ourselves to combating discrimination and violence against women”, and shared a short documentary film titled “Turkey’s Women” prepared by the Directorate of Communications.
The steps to raise the social status of women have been revealed through the stories of women living in different parts of Turkey in the English documentary that tells about the daily lives of women, who work relentlessly and are part of a very colourful spectrum.
The documentary features Ebru Baybara Demir, a professional tourist guide, who made it to the list of “the 10 best chefs of the world” by Basque Culinary Awards in 2 consecutive years; and Dudu Sözcüer, a mathematics teacher from Akhisar province, who started to produce green energy with solar panels, as well as Prof. Sondan Durukanoğlu Feyiz, the rector of Kadir Has University, who decided to become a physicist while working on a tea farm in Of district; Ece Üner, an anchorwoman, historian and sociologist; İlkim Yılmaz, the conductor of Bilintur Women’s Chamber Orchestra and MUZED Orchestra; Şehadet Çitil, who provides employment through organic agriculture in Diyarbakir; and Ahu Büyükkuşoğlu Serter, the CEO of Farplus and the founder of Arya Women Investment Platform, who entered into a joint venture with Elon Musk while he was still seeking support in his start-up project.
