“4th International Balkan Music Festival” to start tomorrow

The "4th International Balkan Music Festival" organized by the Thrace Foundation for Culture, Art and Education (TRAKSEV) will start tomorrow in Edirne.

The festival, supported by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Edirne Municipality, Edirne Regional Directorate of Foundations and Trakya University, aims to promote the socio-cultural structure of the Thrace as well as its cultural and historical values.

On the first day of the festival, Muammer Ketencoğlu and his orchestra will meet with art lovers at the "Balkan Journey" concert in the historical Grand Synagogue of Edirne.

Suzan Kardeş, one of the popular voices of Balkan music, will introduce her new acoustic stage project called "ÇalCazz" at the festival for the first time. Suzan Kardeş and her group will take the stage at Grand Synagogue of Edirne on October 8 to perform both Balkan themed compositions as well as popular Thrace and Balkan melodies in ethnic-jazz style.

Classical Music Days, organized in cooperation with Trakya University, will take place on 8-9 October. Under the leadership of Trakya University Vice Rector Prof. Ahmet Hamdi Zafer, the Master Class by Trakya University Conservatory instructors and the Trakya Ensemble Concert will be presented to the festival audience.

The festival will end with a concert by the Bulgarian musician Thedossi Spassov, who blends ethnic music, jazz and classical music in an extraordinary style, with the Trakya University Balkan Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sela Can Dökmeci. Spassov will perform at Trakya University Balkan Congress Center on October 10.
