The piece, which won first place in our Directorate's 100th Anniversary Anthem Competition, was performed for the public on August 30, Victory Day.
With the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the August 30 Victory Day Concert and the 100th Anniversary Anthem Launch Event were held at the Presidential Complex.
During the event, President Erdoğan presented the awards to the winners of the competition for the 100th Anniversary Anthem organised by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, as well as to the owners of the pieces deemed worthy of the special jury award.
The piece that was deemed worthy of first place, with lyrics by İlker Kömürcü and composition by the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, was performed by the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, Ministry of National Defence Harmony Band, Ministry of Defence Mehter Band, Land Forces Band, Air Force Band, Naval Forces Band, Gendarmerie General Command Band, and Presidential Guard Regiment Band.
The piece, which was chosen as the 100th Anniversary Anthem, received widespread praise.
Visual show with 1200 drones
Within the scope of the event, 1200 drones projected the words "30 August Victory Day" and "Century of Türkiye" into the sky, as well as images of the "Türkiye Map", "Turkish Flag" and "100th anniversary logo of the Republic".
Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun shared a post on his social media account about the 100th Anniversary Anthem.
Director of Communications Altun stated the following in his post:
"The piece, which won the 100th Anniversary Anthem Contest organised by the Presidency's Communications Directorate, was presented to the nation on August 30, Victory Day. We continue to move forward with confident and determined steps in the Century of Türkiye with this anthem that expresses our national and spiritual feelings, stirs our hearts, and reveals our vision and enthusiasm for the future. Let our anthem be a gift for our 100th anniversary."
Director of Communications Altun also shared a video of historical sites illuminated by the Presidency's Communications Directorate in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir on August 30 to commemorate Victory Day.
100th Anniversary Anthem Competition
As part of the 100th anniversary celebrations, the Presidency's Directorate of Communications organised the 100th Anniversary Anthem Competition to convey the struggle for independence and freedom from generation to generation.
The call for submissions was issued on December 29, 2022, with the title "It is Your Turn to Write!" and the competition for lyrics and compositions was completed by the participants' submissions.
Among the over 400 pieces submitted, the top four were ranked.
