Today, Türkiye celebrates Victory Day, a symbol of the Turkish nation's struggle for independence and freedom.
On August 30, 1922, the Turkish army, led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, emerged triumphant in the battle of Dumlupınar against the opposing forces.
Since 1926, this holiday has been observed as Victory Day in Türkiye, following its inaugural celebration in 1923. August 30 is also recognised as the Armed Forces Day of the Republic of Türkiye.
On this holiday, President Erdoğan and officials visit Anıtkabir and lay a wreath at the mausoleum of Türkiye's founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
