President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye met with Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres during the 80th UN General Assembly yesterday. According to the Directorate of Communications, the two sides spoke about "regional and global issues, particularly Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip."
Erdoğan emphasised that Israel's aggression threatens not only Palestinians but also regional and global peace and urged the international community to put pressure on Israel to provide continuous humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Erdoğan, who also commented on the war in Ukraine, informed Guterres that Ankara is intensifying its efforts to end the conflict and achieve enduring peace.
Erdoğan stated during the meeting that the necessity for reform in the UN system has become increasingly clear in recent years and that Türkiye will continue to provide all possible contributions to forthcoming efforts.
