Turkish company Baykar has unveiled the KEMANKEŞ 2 cruise missile at SAHA 2026 in İstanbul. Army Recognition reported that the weapon system could expand NATO’s rapid-strike capabilities.
The 150-kilometre-range smart missile is equipped with an electro-optical guidance module enabling operator control during the terminal phase. "The system strengthens the ability of dispersed land forces to conduct deep strikes beyond conventional artillery range without relying on large missile platforms," the report states.
KEMANKEŞ 2 is a 75 kg class missile with a 20 kg payload capacity. Powered by a jet engine, it achieves a top speed of approximately 296 km/h. The system has a flight endurance of up to 30 minutes. Published reports indicate that KEMANKEŞ 2 is expected to carve out a niche between mini-kamikaze drones and heavy long-range strike systems.
The latest model is a direct expansion of KEMANKEŞ 1, an air-launched mini-cruise missile developed as part of the Bayraktar UAV programme.
