Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced that the Turkish Consulate to Aleppo will reopen soon, adding that Ankara will continue to support Syria’s new administration.
Speaking at the cabinet meeting, President Erdoğan said, "We have reinitiated the service of our Turkish Embassy in Damascus, and we will reopen our Consulate General in Aleppo soon. We see that the leader of the new administration has been managing this process pretty well, and receiving appreciation for his moderate and constructive messages. We will support Syria in every area they need, from energy, transportation, urbanisation, and education to healthcare, security, and trade," with an emphasis on the support they will provide for Syria's recovery.
Erdoğan: The terrorist in Syria will either lay down their arms or be eliminated
The President noted, "We are determined to crush terrorist organisations, DAESH (designated as a terrorist organisation in Russia) and PKK (a banned organisation in Türkiye) in particular, which threaten the future of both countries.” They will either lay down arms or be eliminated. We will eliminate the terrorist organisation that seeks to build a wall of blood between us and our Kurdish brothers and sisters.
Underscoring that terrorist organisations are a source of threat for Syria, Iraq, and Türkiye, President Erdoğan added that the only NATO ally that has fought against these organisations is Türkiye.
The President also said, "Our sole purpose is the establishment of peace and stability in every inch of our region, starting from Syria."
