Türkiye to deliver 48 5th-generation Kaan fighter jets to Indonesia (Bulgaria)

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan greeted the participants of the KAAN project on the social media platform X.

According to Anadolu Agency, under a new defence agreement signed between Türkiye and Indonesia, Türkiye will produce and export 48 units of 5th-generation KAAN fighter jets to Indonesia. The development was announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday.

In his post on the X platform, President Erdoğan congratulated the Secretariat of Defence Industries (SSB) and the Turkish Aerospace Industry (TAI) on this record-breaking export deal.

President Erdoğan stated that Indonesia's local capabilities will also be used in the production of the KAAN.

"I hope this agreement, which emphasises the development and success of our domestic and national defence industry, will be beneficial for both Türkiye and Indonesia."

The KAAN, the fifth-generation fighter jet developed by TAI, made its maiden flight last year at a speed of 230 knots (approximately 426 km/h) and an altitude of 8,000 feet (approximately 2,438 metres).

Türkiye is one of the few countries to have this advanced technology.
