Türkiye reports that first reactor of Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is 90% complete

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated at the Regional Conference on Clean and Secure Energy, which was organised by the Atlantic Council (an organisation that is not welcome in Russia), that the first reactor of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant had been commissioned at a rate exceeding 90%, adding that Türkiye is expected to receive electricity from Akkuyu in 2025.

Bayraktar said, ‘’The construction of our first nuclear reactors is currently ongoing. Meanwhile, four units of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant are under construction in Mersin. The construction site of the nuclear power plant in Mersin is the largest one in the world. The construction progress of the first reactor has exceeded 90%. We expect to receive the first electricity in 2025, and we hope to meet 10% of domestic demand by 2028 after the power plant's remaining three reactors are put into service."
