Türkiye reopened its Consulate General in Aleppo on Monday, whose operations were suspended in 2012 during the civil war.
Türkiye's Acting Chargé d'Affaires in Damascus Burhan Köroğlu, Aleppo Consulate General Hakan Cengiz, and a number of other guests attended the opening ceremony of the Consulate General in Aleppo.
The Turkish flag was raised once again at the Consulate following a hiatus of twelve years.
The opening ceremony was heralded with the great enthusiasm of the people of Aleppo.
The Turkish Embassy in Damascus, which had suspended operations in 2012, resumed operations on December 14, 2024.
The Turkish Embassy remained in operation for a while amid the Syrian regime's violent crackdown on peaceful protesters before being suspended on March 26, 2012. Embassy staff and their families had also returned to Türkiye following this decision.
