Türkiye launches fifth-generation aircraft pilot helmet

An ASELSAN official stated that the first fifth-generation aircraft pilot helmet has been manufactured; it will serve as the "right arm" of pilots flying fifth-generation aircrafts.

Flat-panel displays enable fighter pilots to acquire pertinent information during air combat without the need to incline their heads. When they turn sideways, however, it becomes challenging to obtain information rapidly. Hence, helmet-mounted displays have been produced.

ASELSAN has designed a new helmet with Turkish fifth-generation aircraft pilots in mind. The helmet, constructed entirely of lightweight composite materials, is under 7.5 kilogrammes in weight.

By virtue of the projection lenses on both sides of the helmet, which has a thickened forehead, the pilot can view high-resolution images on the screen in front of his or her eyes. In addition to noise reduction capabilities, the helmet features digital night vision technology.
