According to a statement made by BOTAŞ the day before, the company and the Hungarian state-owned natural gas company MVM signed a natural gas export agreement.
Under the deal, Türkiye will export natural gas to Hungary as of next year. The two countries will also cooperate on the use of Türkiye’s liquified natural gas infrastructure and natural gas storage facilities of both countries.
The statement said “‘Türkiye will for the first time export natural gas through pipelines to a European country that it does not share a border with”.
Türkiye had signed a 13-year deal with Bulgaria in January. Türkiye exports nearly 1,5 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Bulgaria annually.
