“Türkiye Has Won... Every One of Our 86 Million Citizens—Turks, Kurds, Arabs—Has Won”
President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stated at the opening of the 32nd Consultation and Assessment Meeting held at a hotel in Ankara: “With the PKK laying down arms, the 47-year-long scourge of terrorism is coming to an end, and a new chapter is opening in Türkiye’s history.” On the day following the disarmament ceremony, Erdoğan remarked, “Türkiye has won. Each and every one of our 86 million citizens—Turks, Kurds, and Arabs—has won. We closely monitor every initiative that aims to stop the bloodshed, soothe the tears of mothers, alleviate suffering, and strengthen brotherhood. The Terror-Free Türkiye Project we have recently pursued, let me state clearly, is not the result of a negotiation, a bargaining process, or a give-and-take. It is with this understanding that we approach and monitor our Terror-Free Türkiye Project."
According to Erdoğan, with the disarmament of the PKK, “Türkiye today stands stronger and more magnificent than yesterday, and above all, it looks to the future with greater confidence.” and "Every single one of our citizens should rejoice at this picture and should celebrate; every street, avenue, and home in Türkiye should be adorned with our crescent-and-starred flag.” Erdoğan continued, "Today marks the dawn of a great and powerful Türkiye. When hearts unite, borders dissolve. For 47 years, terrorist barons and those who feed off blood prevailed. Today, we are disrupting and reversing this vile game.” "Not only the concerns of our Kurdish citizens, but also those of our Kurdish brothers in Iraq and Syria, are our concerns as well. We are consulting with them on this process, and they are very pleased. My Kurdish brother, if you have a problem, let’s sit down and talk.” Erdoğan said, and he further emphasised that cooperation with the Syrian government and international partners would continue. Erdoğan continued as follows, "I sincerely believe that the chapter of terrorism will be closed and that brotherhood will prevail.
With the end of terrorism, Türkiye will be much stronger and more confident than before. We will now devote our energy to our core tasks. We will mobilise our resources not for combating terrorism but for development, prosperity, and a thriving and victorious Türkiye." Erdoğan also noted that the Turkish government would oversee the disarmament process to ensure its completion.
