Türkiye-Austria Friendship Agreement in its centenary

Turkish Presidency’s Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun penned an article on the occasion of the centenary of the agreement on Die Presse, a leading newspaper in Austria, titled “A Heritage of 100 Years: On the Relations between Türkiye and Austria”.

The author focuses on the in situ celebration of the 100th anniversary of the agreement, which serves the reinforcement of the historic ties between the two countries and is the symbol of the profound ties between the two nations.

“This agreement, signed a century ago, is not only an expression of the strong relations between the two countries, but also an important step for both societies to get better acquainted with each other and come closer. In fact, both countries have since cooperated in many areas such as trade, art-culture and education on the basis of mutual respect and understanding.” the author noted.

According to Altun, the mutual trade volume between the two countries has reached nearly four billion dollars, and is expected to exceed five billion dollars.

Altun also states human rights and human dignity are “universal values”that Türkiye upholds.

The article went on with the following expressions: “Acting with this awareness, Türkiye's pursuit of peaceful solutions to the Gaza crisis, which has preoccupied the world since October 7, as well as its approach of supporting the two-state solution within the framework of UN parameters represent important steps towards ensuring lasting peace in the region. Today's Türkiye is a playmaker not only within its own borders, but also at the regional and global stage, a country that destroys the plots that are tried to be orchestrated against it and plays an active role in resolving problems and crises.
