One of the world's leading tourism regions, Türkiye attracted 56.7 million tourists in 2023, an increase of 10 per cent compared to previous years. The country's tourism revenue increased by 17 per cent to $54.3 billion, while the average overnight expenditure of visitors was $99. These figures were announced by Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy at a meeting organized in Istanbul.
Ersoy also stated that Türkiye has revised its strategy by expanding its range of tourism services.
"We are seeing the effects on the average length of stay as we have launched products that include short-term stays such as weekend city breaks, international events, sporting tournaments, festivals, etc., and we are seeing an increase in the flow of tourists with their positive results," the minister noted.
This year, the country aims to raise the number of tourists to 60 million and tourism revenues to 60 billion dollars.
