Türkiye and Kazakhstan aim to increase trade volume to 15 billion dollars (Azerbaijan)

According to AZERTAC, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye, during the joint press conference in Ankara with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, said, "Kazakhstan has the largest economy in its region and is the leading trade partner of Türkiye in Central Asia. We are taking all necessary steps to increase the annual trade volume to 15 billion dollars."

The President of Türkiye recalled that as early as 2009, Ankara had declared Astana a strategic partner of Türkiye, and three years ago, the relations between the two countries were elevated to the level of "enhanced strategic partnership."

Erdoğan stated that Türkiye's investments in Kazakhstan’s economy have reached 5 billion dollars, while Kazakhstan’s investments in Türkiye have come close to 1.5 billion dollars, and said, "Turkish construction companies have so far carried out more than 500 projects in Kazakhstan, with a total value of 30 billion dollars."

Stating that the issue of transferring Kazakhstan's oil to the world markets via Türkiye was on the agenda during the high-level meetings, President Erdoğan also said that views were exchanged on expanding the capacity of the Middle Corridor and implementing concrete joint projects in the defence industry, with a particular emphasis on cooperation in the fight against terrorism and mutual activities in the tourism sector.
