According to the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), Türkiye exported tea worth $22.28 million from January to September 2025, marking a 24% rise relative to the corresponding period in the previous year.
During nine months, 4,057 tonnes of tea were exported from Türkiye to 112 countries. In the same period last year, exports totalled 3,628 tonnes. Primary markets for Turkish tea included Belgium, the United Kingdom, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Exports to Belgium totalled $7.85 million, to the United Kingdom, $3.65 million, and to the TRNC, $1.96 million.
Approximately 48% of export revenue was generated from the Rize province. $2,670 tonnes of tea were exported from Rize to 25 countries during this period, resulting in a total of $10.72 million in revenue.
Turkish tea, which is the only tea in the world that is grown under snow, is strengthening its position in the global market, reports DKİB. While Türkiye continues to broaden its reach into Middle Eastern, US, and Asian markets, the primary growth is noted in European countries.
The sector anticipates concluding the year with export revenues surpassing $28 million.
