Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that the damage assessment work following the earthquakes is nearing completion, and the government has promised to complete the restructuring process within a year.
While the earthquakes that struck Kahramanmaraş affected 11 provinces, at least 48 thousand people died. Earthquakes destroyed or severely damaged over 230 thousand buildings.
Officials with the United Nations Development Program estimate that the earthquake has caused more than $100 billion in damages to the Turkish economy.
