Presidency's Head of Communications of the Republic of Türkiye, Burhanettin Duran, said on Saturday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had targeted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan out of desperation.
Duran made the remarks in a post shared on the Turkish platform NSosyal in response to Netanyahu’s statements targeting President Erdoğan.
Duran stated that Netanyahu, who is committing genocide in Gaza and has attacked seven countries in the region, had dared to target President Erdoğan out of desperation.
He also stressed that Netanyahu is a criminal against whom arrest warrants have been issued and who no longer has any friends left. Duran added that Netanyahu is dragging the region into chaos and conflict to preserve his political survival.
Duran said that everyone knows Netanyahu possesses neither the moral values nor the legitimacy to lecture others.
He further underlined that Netanyahu would sooner or later be held accountable for crimes committed against humanity.
Duran stated that under the leadership of President Erdoğan, Türkiye would continue its struggle against oppressors for a fairer, more peaceful and more secure world.
Earlier, Netanyahu had shared a post containing harsh remarks targeting President Erdoğan.
These developments came after the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against 35 Israeli suspects over the armed attack on the “Global Resistance Flotilla,” which had set sail to break the blockade on Gaza.
On 1 October last year, the Israeli army attacked 42 vessels belonging to the Resistance Flotilla while they were sailing towards Gaza in international waters, detained hundreds of international activists on board and subsequently began deporting them.
Within this scope, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office requested aggravated life imprisonment as well as prison sentences ranging from 1,002 to 4,596 years for each of the 35 Israeli defendants, including Netanyahu.
