Turkish-made fighter jet Kaan to fly with indigenous engines in 2028

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) announced on Wednesday that the KAAN, Türkiye's indigenous fighter jet, will be powered by Turkish engines in 2028.

Speaking at the 16th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF-2023), Turkish Aerospace CEO Temel Kotil said, "KAAN is currently flying with the F110 engine, and work is ongoing to upgrade this fighter jet."

KAAN, a fighter jet of the fifth generation developed by Turkish Aerospace, is being upgraded to replace Türkiye's fleet of F-16 fighter jets.

According to Kotil, international interest in ATAK-2 fighter aircraft and helicopters has exceeded expectations, particularly in Persian Gulf countries.
