Turkish Minister of National Defense, Hulusi Akar, remarked in an interview with Anadolu Agency that Türkiye believes the parties have a constructive approach to extending the grain deal and that it will be extended.
“Both parties to the agreement take a constructive stance. We anticipate that this process will result in a favourable outcome. We believe the deal will be extended after March 18,” said the Minister.
Akar further stated that around 24 million tons of grain were carried during the implementation of the process. Transportation is handled by almost 800 ships. “Yes, there are minor problems in the implementation of the agreements, but the Russian side, the Ukrainian side and the UN are working together. Generally speaking, the agreements are implemented without incident. On our part, we want the deal to be extended. According to our contacts, Russia and Ukraine have also indicated their views on the continuation of this effort."
