Turkish and Iraqi officials meet to discuss electricity and natural gas cooperation (China)

According to a statement released by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar in Baghdad.

The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration in electricity, natural gas, and oil to address the energy requirements of both nations.

The two parties engaged in discussions regarding Turkish investments in Iraq's oil and gas sector, along with the potential for Türkiye to increase its electricity supply to Iraq in order to address energy shortages, particularly during peak demand periods.

During the meeting, an agreement was reached to double the electricity supply from Türkiye to Iraq, and discussions also took place regarding the extension of the oil pipeline agreement between Kirkuk and the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
