Turkish Airlines breaks Guinness World Record for Most Countries Flown to by Airline (Spain)

Turkish Airlines has expanded its network to 131 countries with Chile by launching a new route to Santiago, surpassing its closest competitor by 30 destinations.

The year ends with good news for Turkish Airlines. The airline, which included Santiago (Chile) in its flight network, holds the Guinness World Records title of “the most countries flown to by an airline,” with flights to 10 countries in the Americas and 131 countries worldwide.

Although the airline has flown to most countries since 2012, it was not recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records until 2024 due to the agency's evaluation criteria that only take into account the number of active flight routes in the last twelve months, which Turkish Airlines totalled at 120 countries at the time of record. Including the temporarily suspended flight routes and the recent addition of Chile to the flight network, the airline was finally able to earn this title.

The record certificate was awarded immediately after the first flight of Turkish Airlines to Chile at the Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Santiago, with a ceremony attended by some executives of the airline and representatives of the records agency.

Beginning this Friday, the airline will offer four weekly flights from İstanbul to Santiago, with a single stopover in São Paulo, demonstrating its commitment to expanding operations in the Americas.
