On Thursday, Syrian Information Minister Hamza al-Mustafa met with a delegation from the Presidency's Directorate of Communications of the Republic of Türkiye, headed by Deputy Director Prof. Ferhat Pirinççi, with Türkiye’s Ambassador to Damascus, Nuh Yılmaz, also in attendance. During the meeting, Minister al-Mustafa explained the current situation of Syrian media and the recent initiatives taken to rebuild the sector on a firm professional foundation. The two sides also discussed ways to develop cooperation in monitoring unverified information, establish integrated systems to counter disinformation campaigns, and benefit from Türkiye's experience in this field.
On 20 January, Hamza al-Mustafa had a telephone conversation with Prof. Burhanettin Duran, Head of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, during which they underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation in the media sector, especially in response to systematic rumours, misinformation, and disinformation campaigns.
