Several heads of state express eagerness to maintain cooperation with Erdoğan

Joe Biden and Mette Frederiksen Look Forward to Continuing Their Cooperation with Türkiye as NATO Allies.

Many world leaders expressed their congratulations to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye on his re-election victory on Sunday, which ensures that he will remain in office for another five years.

Among them was President Joe Biden of the US.

"I look forward to continuing to work together as NATO Allies on bilateral issues and shared global challenges," Biden said on Twitter.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen congratulated Erdoğan on his election victory, which he won with slightly over 52 percent of the vote, surpassing opposition candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

Prime Minister of Denmark wrote, “Congratulations to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the re-election as President of the Republic of Türkiye. I look forward to continuing the strong and constructive cooperation between our two countries, including as NATO allies.”

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of the United Kingdom personally contacted Erdoğan on Sunday evening to congratulate him on his victory.

During the conversation, Sunak emphasised the strong relations between the United Kingdom and Türkiye as economic partners and close NATO allies.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson of Sweden congratulated Erdoğan on his victory in the decisive second round of elections on Sunday.

"Our common security is a future priority," Kristersson wrote.

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine was among the many heads of state who wanted to congratulate Erdoğan on his victory.

“We hope to be able to develop our strategic partnership for the benefit of our countries and strengthen cooperation on security and stability in Europe,” Zelensky tweeted.
