Russia and Türkiye discuss establishment of Natural Gas Distribution Hub (Russia)

Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak of Russia and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar of Türkiye discussed the establishment of a natural gas distribution hub and the conditions for supplying natural resources from Russia to Türkiye during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

In a statement issued by the Ministry on the matter, it was noted: “The parties reviewed cooperation in the fields of oil, natural gas, coal, electricity, and nuclear energy. Talks covered the establishment of a natural gas distribution hub, the conditions for supplying natural resources from Russia to Türkiye, and the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.”

In his remarks, Novak stated: “In light of the turbulent situation in the region and globally, interaction in the energy sector is of particular importance. The ‘driving force’ of the Turkish economy is its industry, but industry cannot develop without a stable energy supply and electricity generation. Russia has become, and continues to be, a reliable supplier of natural gas, oil, and other natural resources for the Turkish market.”
