Prof Burhanettin Duran: Night of July 15 was a turning point for Türkiye and its nation (Bulgaria)

The failed coup attempt is a triumph of democracy and independence that will be etched into Türkiye's history.

The Presidency's Head of Communications Prof Burhanettin Duran addressed the panel titled "July 15: Memory, Justice, and Future" held by the Directorate of Communications in Ankara.

In his speech, Prof Duran underlined that the night of July 15 marked a turning point for Türkiye and the Turkish nation. He said that the response against the actions of FETÖ once again demonstrated the nation's unwavering loyalty to the state. Duran added that the failed coup attempt was etched into history as a decisive triumph in Türkiye's struggle for democracy and independence.

Noting that the nation's taking to the streets in resistance to the brutal attempt of the terrorist organisation was a testament to the fact that nothing would be the same anymore, Duran said that the transformation began that night. The July 15 coup attempt paved the way for major transformation in almost all sectors of the country, including foreign policy and national security.

Despite its heinous nature, the coup attempt further reinforced national unity and the fight against terrorism. The resolve now known as the "Terror-Free Türkiye" initiative has been at the foundation of every step taken since that night and still lives in the hearts of the people defending their democracy. It is also upheld as the legacy of those who lost their lives for this cause.
