According to a statement from the Presidency of Türkiye, President Erdoğan engaged in a telephone conversation with President Macron of France on August 21 at the request of the French side. The two sides exchanged views on Türkiye-France bilateral relations, the Russia-Ukraine peace process, the situation in Gaza, and other regional and global issues.
Erdoğan stated that Türkiye is making continuous efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict in a just and peaceful manner and has been closely following the parties' recent interactions in Alaska and Washington. The President expressed Türkiye's readiness to host any initiative concerning the peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
When addressing the Gaza issue, Erdoğan pointed out that the Turkish side is actively advocating for a ceasefire and that Israel must refrain from taking deliberate actions to expedite its Gaza occupation plan.
Erdoğan also emphasised that Türkiye attaches great importance to cooperation with France and will continue to encourage the growth of bilateral ties in various areas, such as the defence industry.
