President Erdoğan tells Khan that Israel “must be held accountable for its crimes”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye is likely to highlight the war in Gaza during his address to the UN General Assembly tomorrow.

According to a statement released by the Presidency, during his meeting with International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor Karim Khan in New York, President Erdoğan stated that Israel "must be held accountable for its crimes."

In May, Khan requested an arrest warrant against Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Minister of Defence Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip and Israel since the start of hostilities triggered by the Palestinian Islamist Hamas movement on October 7.

President Erdoğan told Khan today that Israel is committing a "genocide in Gaza" and is also planning "new massacres."
