The President of the Republic of Türkiye warned that the region is facing a major crisis and condemned the events in Lebanon.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye accused Israel of spreading the war in the Gaza Strip to the region. President Erdoğan, prior to departing for New York for the UN General Assembly, gave an interview in İstanbul and stated, "The recent attacks on Lebanon have proven our concerns about the Israeli government's plans to spread the war to the region to be true."
The President of the Republic of Türkiye added that the region is facing an "inexplicably huge crisis". He accused Israel of conducting "attacks like a terrorist organization" over the pager attacks in Lebanon. According to the latest information from Lebanese authorities, at least 39 people were killed on Tuesday and Wednesday upon the detonation of modified devices. Approximately three thousand people were wounded, including Hezbollah members, civilians, and children.
President Erdoğan said that the Israeli attacks on Lebanon were a "provocation" to implement its "radical Zionist ideology". President Erdoğan's government has close ties with the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas.
