Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye, stated that Türkiye could export approximately 40 billion cubic meters of natural gas through the natural gas distribution centre that will be established on its territory, adding that the natural gas distribution centre could be operational this year.
Dönmez said, "We have not given up on our goals; the natural gas distribution centre could be operational within a year. We already have our own gas (in the Black Sea). Our annual natural gas consumption is approximately 55-60 billion cubic meters. We have the opportunity to supply the system with 100 billion cubic meters of gas. If we plan carefully, we can export 40 billion cubic meters of gas.”
Emphasizing that Türkiye should not be considered a transit country with the project aiming to establish a natural gas distribution centre, Dönmez said, "Türkiye will be the centre of international natural gas trade, and the natural gas distribution centre will be established within a year."
