Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye discusses Akkuyu Project with Head of Rosatom at SPIEF (Russia)

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye, Alparslan Bayraktar, discussed the Akkuyu Project, Türkiye's first nuclear power plant, with Alexey Likhachev, Head of Rosatom, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"We discussed the latest developments at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant and assessed our plans for the future in the field of nuclear energy," Bayraktar wrote in a post on X following the meeting.

Bayraktar also noted, "We emphasise at every opportunity the exceptional importance of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, which is one of our country's most strategic projects."

The Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is being built by Rosatom. The plant consists of four power units, each with a capacity of 1,200 MW. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye previously announced that the testing of electricity production at the first power unit of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is scheduled for the end of 2025.
