Leaders of Türkiye, Iran: Palestinian issue a common focus

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who was on a visit to Türkiye, in the capital Ankara.

While focusing on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the two sides emphasised that the Palestinian issue is a common focus of Türkiye and Iran.

At a joint press conference held following the meeting, Erdoğan said that he and Raisi discussed the necessity and urgency of ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and urged the parties to refrain from actions that would further threaten regional security and stability.

Erdoğan voiced that the two countries reiterated their support for the just cause of Palestine and are determined to maintain their cooperation on this issue.

Ibrahim Raisi also said at the press conference: "The primary issue of the Islamic world is Palestine. Those who claim to defend human rights have not fulfilled their duty. We will continue to support the Palestinian cause."

Erdogan and Raisi co-chaired the  Meeting of the Türkiye-Iran High-Level Cooperation Council.

The two countries also signed 10 cooperation agreements in various fields such as energy, tourism, trade and communication.
