Jordan, Syria and Türkiye on Tuesday signed a trilateral memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation and integration in the transport sector, according to a statement by the Jordanian Ministry of Transport.

The agreement was signed in the Jordanian capital Amman by Jordan's Minister of Transport Nidal Qatamin, Syrian transport chief Yarob Badr, and Türkiye's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu, during a joint ministerial meeting attended by representatives from the public and private sectors, as well as transport and logistics experts.

The memorandum aims to develop an integrated regional transport system to facilitate passenger and goods movement, improve supply chain efficiency, and position the region as a key logistics hub linking regional and global markets.

Uraloglu stressed the importance of strengthening various modes of transport links between the region, Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries, as well as enhancing road, rail and maritime infrastructure, noting the strategic role of Jordan's Aqaba Port in regional trade.
