In the "Şifa" (Healing) section of the historic Rami Library in İstanbul, rare manuscripts that have been preserved for centuries are meticulously restored by experts, breathing new life into these invaluable works. Housed in an 18th-century historical building that was once used as a military barracks, Rami Library officially opened in 2023. Within the library, the "Şifahane" (Healing House) restoration centre operates under the Presidency of the Manuscripts Institution of Türkiye. Also known as the "Book Hospital," Şifahane specialises in restoring rare manuscripts written in Ottoman Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, and Russian, some of which date back thousands of years. Additionally, antiques from countries like Lebanon are also accepted for restoration.
