The 13th Session of the Economic Cooperation Council (ECO) High-Level Working Group on İslamabad-Tehran-İstanbul (ITI) freight train was held in Türkiye with a focus on enhancing infrastructure and transport capacities as well as the revision of the financial participation of the private sector and the Islamic Development Bank in this railway corridor.
The meeting was co-organized by the Government of Türkiye and ECO Secretariat and was attended by the delegations from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Pakistan and Türkiye as well as representatives of the ECO Trade and Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank and private sector.
ECO Public Relations unit made the following statement: “Looking into various aspects, issues and requirements of ITI Train, including the digitalization of procedures between corridor’s en-route countries, the Working Group reviewed overall operational status of the ITI Train.”
The need to mobilize the infrastructure development as well as possibility of seeking monetary assistance from ECO Trade and Development Bank and the Islamic Development Bank to this end, were also explored during the meeting.
