Iran expressed gratitude and appreciation for Türkiye’s cooperation in extinguishing the Elit, Chalus forest fires.
Iran’s Minister of Agriculture, Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh, visited Türkiye for the international meeting on “Prevention of Food and Water Waste” and met with Türkiye’s Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, İbrahim Yumaklı, to discuss advancing cooperation.
At this meeting, Yumaklı stated, "Increasing food security and improving water efficiency are two issues that significantly affect the economic stability and development processes of Iran and Türkiye, two key countries in the region. Iran and Türkiye confront major challenges and concerns stemming from these issues, and substantial cooperation should be conducted in this area."
Yumaklı highlighted Ankara’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Iran in agriculture and food and referred to the joint agricultural cooperation committee of the two countries and the wide potential for collaboration, noting that cooperation in agriculture, livestock, and water management carries particular importance.
At the meeting, Iran’s Minister of Agriculture Ghezeljeh also thanked Türkiye for its cooperation in extinguishing the forest fires in northern Iran, describing this effort as a sign of the close relations and constructive, mutual cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
The Iranian minister, noting the interaction between the two sides, stressed that the agriculture ministries of Iran and Türkiye share extensive common issues and that cooperation in food security and agriculture must be strengthened more than ever.
Emphasising the importance of exchanging experience in agriculture, drought management, livestock farming, water resources, and agricultural research, Ghezeljeh said that Iran is ready for joint cooperation with Türkiye, noting the removal of barriers at border crossings and the easing of product exchange.
